Unable to travel to create field recordings in those remote far flung places he is accustomed to, Vilhelm has instead had to self-isolate with in the remote far flung place that he lives and use his home environment as the place to create his next audio project. Confined to a 2 acre meadow it becomes the focus of his research. The recordings and film clips that emerge during this time are now presented in 'The Nature of Things'. A 13 track album of compositions derived from field recordings captured entirely from a small meadow in West Cornwall during the Covid-19 lockdown.

THE GUNNERY BEAT ENSEMBLE

This final release from the Art of Self Help project consists of 12 compositions made entirely from sound samples recorded in the field during 3 visits to the Outer Hebrides August 2018 to November 2019. The album takes its name from the C16th Gunnery building on the island of Beà rnaraigh. A recording taken from the Gunnery as rain dripped from its roof forms the beat of each track which in turn feature samples of recordings taken across the islands during this time.
