Afterword

At the start of the project I began by thinking, in a random way, about loops, sampled music and how a project focussing on these elements might help me in some personal way. Then I began to ruminate about natural cycles, of the elements, the seasons and their changes. Later, I drifted over to thinking about our collective interactions with the landscape and our creative interpretations of it. A whole bunch of stuff. Swirling around in this brain soup  more thoughts leaked in about the impact of our current, disconnected relationship with nature. The big disconnect. This ultimately led to me consider our climate emergency and how this will impact on the earth's natural cycles and in particular this place I had visited? By the end of the third visit my mind was less of a soup and had begun to coalesce and listening now to these walking songs, compositions call them what you will, it seems evident to me that these thoughts (though the project is not without optimism too!) have made their presence felt.  All islands across the globe are set to face wide scale permanent disruption to the natural rhythms and seasonal cycles, bringing even wilder weather patterns, temperature fluctuations and seemingly ever rising sea levels. These cycles,  patterns and rhythms that have given succour to and enabled us to plan, prosper and grow are now under threat. Now where's the music in that I wonder?
